"The Humbrechts’ 2006 Gewurztraminer Goldert Vendange Tardive smells of peat, celery seed, and tidal salt-flats. Creamy in texture and flavored with cashew paste and caramelized celery root and parsnip, it may strike some as too bifurcated between root vegetable pungency and caramelization, though I find the tension here as if I were eating the aforementioned preparations. Furthermore, there is a glycerin-rich suggestion of mirabelle liqueur, virtually free of heat (despite 15% alcohol) or bitterness. This fascinating wine might have some aging potential though I would monitor it for signs of further emerging heat or bitterness."

"Winegrowing is a passion that has been passed down from father to son in the Humbrecht family since the 17th century. Domaine Zind Humbrecht today comprises of 40 hectares of vines, spread out over an array of different terroirs in the geological patchwork which is the Alsatian wine region and birthplace of our noble grape varieties."
