"While I wasn’t able to taste the traditional cuvee, the 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin is a smoking effort that’s still drinking beautifully (I still remember tasting this wine shortly after release and it has never failed to impress)! Full-bodied, voluptuously-styled, layered and decadent, it possesses mature Chateauneuf aromas and flavors of garrigue, fruit cake, soy, licorice and spice to go with a core ripe fruit. As with the other vintages tasted here, this beauty is at full maturity, but will continue to evolve gracefully."
