Und das tat er. 2018 hatte er eine einfach geile, verführerische Frucht, mentholige Frische, so würzig und elegant mit genügend Struktur und Rückgrat für längere Alterung, sicher derzeit auch noch eine Art Geheimtipp – WT96."

Feiner Florentinertouch, etwas Peterwurz, Lakritz, dunkler Nougat, am Gaumen bordelesk und elegant, feine Extraktsüße, feine Tannine, feiner Säurebogen, salziger Touch, fast zitronig im Abgang, etwa Jekyll und Hyde, Rustiknase und frischer Abgang. Grange is both Penfolds and arguably Australia's most famous wine and is officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. Grange boasts an unbroken line of vintages from the experimental 1951 and clearly demonstrates the synergy between shiraz and the soils and climate of South Australia.
Penfolds Grange displays fully-ripe and intensely-flavoured Shiraz and some Cabernet grapes in combination with new American oak. The result is a unique Australian style that is now recognised as one of the most consistent of the world's great wines. The Grange style is the original and most powerful expression of Penfolds multi-vineyard, multi-district blending philosophy.
This has been worth the wait. A complete wine, the description of which is not subservient to words - surely a good sign. The wine is at the other end of the Grange spectral offer to its predecessor, the 2001, purely as a result of two very different climatic vintages.
