"Bright ruby-red. Pure but reticent nose offers raspberry and stony minerality. Saline and quite tight on the palate, but with a subtle sweetness to the flavors of red berries, licorice and herbs. Finishes sappy, classically dry and strong, showing plenty of fruit but coming across as rather unforthcoming today."

"The upper part of the Combe d'Orveau contains more stones and outcropping rocks which bring finesse and mineral qualities. In the lower part, near Musigny, finer soils containing more silt make the wines richer, more intense and fresher. The ultra cuvee Chambolle Musigny Premier Cru La Combe d'Orveau is produced from the oldest part of this vineyard which is adjacent to Musigny."
